E-mail notification for S.M.A.R.T. - Due to the S.M.A.R.T. feature, Open-E DSS Enterprise can be configured to send Email alerts to the system administrator in case of any problem with the hard drive units.
iSCSI Initatior - Open-E DSS supports hardware iSCSI Initiators (HBA) and has a software iSCSI Initiator for easily expanding the storage capacity of the JollySTOR system. New units and logical volumes can be added by connecting an iSCSI storage system to the JollySTOR.
Multiple FibreChannel HBA Support - For higher bandwidth, better latency and performance, the Open-E DSS version supports Fibre Channel HBA´s (Host Bus Adapter) from Emulex and Qlogic. Fibre Channel is the standard connection type for connecting high speed storage devices, like the Open-E DSS, to computers in Storage Area Networks (SAN).
Adapter Fault Tolerance (AFT) - Adapter Fault Tolerance assures greater reliability by providing a secondary network adapter which automatically takes over if the primary network adapter fails.
Adaptive Load Balancing (ALB) - Adaptive Load Balancing enhances data throughput by automatically routing data through alternative paths as the application changes.
10 Gb Ethernet with TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) - To improve the data throughput and latency, the JollySTOR supports 10 Gbit Ethernet cards.
InfiniBand Support - The JollySTOR supports, besides 10 GbE and FC HBA, Infiniband for more flexibility in high speed network environments.
Backup-Agents (Veritas, EMC Dantz, CA BrightStor) - Open-E DSS backup agents help administrators to back up JollySTOR servers with backup software from Veritas, Dantz, CA BrightStor ARCserve.Using the backup agents, you can administer complete data protection for all data stored on the Storage server. This improves data transfer and provides network security, task monitoring, real-time directory browsing, and cross-platform backup support.Other backup software can do the backup and restore over supported file protocols.
Local Backup on Dynamic Units - In the Enterprise version a local HDD or a USB drive can be defined as a Dynamic Unit. On this Unit you can backup the JollySTOR server and store the backup separately. The Dynamic Unit can be removed without shutting down the server and acts like a normal tape drive.
Cross Data Synchronization - Open-E DSS can synchronize files and directories from one Storage server to another. The data transfer is block- based in order to minimize network traffic. Synchronization can be used for disaster recovery or Disk-to-Disk backup purposes. The Enterprise version can synchronize data in both directions: the Storage server can be the source and destination of files at the same time, allowing to cross-backup data on several servers.
Snapshot - Snapshot is an immediate point-in-time image of the logical volume (LV). The snapshot image can be used for both consistent and temporary backup, while users still have uninterrupted and complete access to the LV. Also, if a user accidentally deletes or incorrectly modifies a file, that file can be recovered from a previous snapshot image.
Multiple Snapshot with the scheduling function - JollySTOR with Open-E DSS supports Multiple Snapshot with Scheduling to create snapshots at predefined points in time (e.g. Automatically every hour).
Online Logical Volume Expansion - Online logical volume expansion allows administrators to change the size of storage volumes as needed without having to restart the application, recreate the volume, and back up and restore the data to the volume.
UPS Support - Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) eliminates the effects of a temporary power outage and provides safe shutdown, without loss of data, in case of power failure. The UPS device can be connected by COM-port or USB to the Storage server. Open-E DSS is capable of using the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) interface for communication with other SNMP-enabled servers (e.g., Open-E DSS servers) for a smooth server shutdown in case of power failure. The server with UPS sends the power failure signal through the network to other servers (in slave mode) and will shut down all servers in the network.
No individual client or server licenses are required - With JollySTOR, it doesn't matter how many users you have on your network, whether there are 5, 50, 500, or more: You pay the same price for JollySTOR
